Did you know that ten percent of San Diego County's 3 million-plus residents speak English less than "very well"? As these individuals navigate child custody, domestic violence, asylum, and other court proceedings, they face unique challenges in accessing the courts and obtaining due process. To explore these barriers and work toward a fairer system, SABA San Diego welcomes you for a thought-provoking zoom event titled, “English Fluency and Access to Justice.” Our panelists are Hon. William S. Dato of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District Division One; Pooja Dadhania, Associate Professor of Law at California Western School of Law; Legal Aid Special Counsel on Language Access Joann Lee; and mental health counselor Ayuja Dixit of East County nonprofit License to Freedom.
